Oedema
Oedema is a clinical diagnosis for the collection of fluid in the interstitial
spaces. It can range from mild localized pitting to severe generalized swelling
called anasarca . The causes are numerous but the most common causes of generalized
oedema are: renal (nephrotic and nephritic), cardiac (congestive cardiac failure),
nutritional (kwashiorkor), and angioneurotic. Severe oedema can result in
blister and ulceration causing local infection.
