Malar rash

Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus typically develop a sharply defined, erythematous eruption in a butterfly distribution on the cheeks (malar rash). It is also seen in infection caused by the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi, Graft versus host disease and impetigo.
