Neonatal oral thrush

Thrush of the mouth occurs in healthy infants. Transmission of fungi from maternal vaginal moniliasis to the infant's oral mucosa is the primary means of infection in healthy newborns. Secondary cases may develop in the hospital nursery as a result of direct or indirect contact with infected infants, caretakers, or contaminated supplies.
